I happen to be passing through Helsinki for work and have signed up for this tournament. I could use some suggestions/help.
I'll be in Helsinki Saturday, 9 July. I am interested in playing some of the local courses. Suggestions for getting around and courses to play. If anyone is interested in playing a round or 6 let me know.
I'll be back in Helsinki Friday 15th the day before the tournament... what's the best way to get to the course? Anyone interested in sharing a ride? Is it reasonable to stay in Helsinki (currently booked by the Airport) or should I try to get a room by the course?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I did post this in the other forum linked higher up in this thread.
Welcome to Helsinki! Should be a good time to be here as there will most definitely be enough sunlight for those 6 rounds.
Generally speaking, there are number of good courses within 50 mile radius, so by a car or a lift you'll have a lot of options. You can try to check some options from the finnish site FGR:

Talin Tallaajat facebook page for more local contacts.
On public transportation things can be more difficult, but you will still have few options.
Number one on your list should be
Talin Huippu:
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2161The course can be a bit busy on sunny days, but it is one of the most well known and challenging courses in Finland.
The other decent 18-hole course within the city limits is
Kivikko:
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=5741Third one, would be the oldest course in the whole Finland,
Meilahti:

What comes to the courses played in Hiidenvesi Open, I really hope you can get a ride as they are some 30-40 minutes from the downtown. The courses are really nice, so once you get there you'll be a happy campper.
Hope you enjoy Finland.
